• How can the Fronius IG be so much lighter weight than competing inverters?
  
• High Frequency
  The IG uses a high frequency transformer, which is substantially smaller than the 60 Hz transformers used in inverters with one-stage topologies. The transformer also provides galvanic isolation. Since transformers are largely made of copper and iron, that's a lot of raw metal that is no longer necessary.
• Active Cooling
  The use of active cooling means the heat sinks can be much smaller as well. Because the heat sinks are just large pieces of metal meant to conduct heat away from the inside of the inverter, smaller heat sinks means less metal and less weight.
• Inductor Optimization
  We have optimized the output inductor to put two inductors on one coil. Many other inverters use 2 separate inductors, which adds up to a heavier inverter.

An aluminum mounting bracket comes standard with each IG, making installation fast and easy. Mount the aluminum bracket to the wall, slide the IG onto the positioning lip, and fasten the securing screws (included). The mounting bracket is predrilled and patterned for mounting to a single stud, flat wood or stucco siding, 6” and 8” lap siding, and shingles.

MIX™ Concept.

Disruptive ambient factors such as dust or moisture remain on the outside: The reason: Cooling air is drawn in on the wall side and routed through a closed channel over the heat sink.
