Aten Solar is one of the most experienced agile resellers in the United States. With over 70 years of executive-level experience working for leading manufacturers, developers, project financiers and EPC firms within the solar industry, our leadership team has the relationships and proven track record source the components you need, when you need them, and at leading wholesale prices.
We were founded in 2005 to fill a niche between manufacturers and medium to large-sized solar installers, integrators, and EPC firms, that don’t have the internal resources to secure wholesale pricing or manage the procurement process. We maintain a strong balance sheet that allows us to purchase, store and deliver high-quality Tier I solar modules from leading manufacturers at the industry’s best prices. Beyond products, we have many value-added services such as logistics and engineering support to allow our customers to focus on what they do best, development and construction.

Yousri Abdou has distinguished history of success designing ground-breaking solutions within the solar energy industry. He is exceptionally well-versed in all aspects of strategic business development with impressive track record of generating multimillion-dollar sales growth and expanding revenue streams. He has successfully managed 1,000+ client accounts while developing, growing, and leading large national sales teams.
Over his 25-year career, Yousri had prided himself on delivering strategic and profitable solutions for his clients while maintaining a steadfast focus on customer service.
Yousri earned his Bachelor of Science from The George Washington University and his MBA from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Steven Gifis brings more than 35 years of experience as a solar industry executive to the Aten team. He spent the first 25 years of his solar career as the COO and CFO for two solar equipment companies that constructed over 20 solar module factories throughout the world.
In 2011, Steven joined Lightway Solar as their Director of U.S. Solar Strategy and was responsible for growing its revenues from $200K to over $100M in one year. He then went out on his own to source and sell surplus solar module inventories and formed his own wholesale solar module company called Hudson Renewables in 2015.
Today Steven is a member of Aten Solar and brings his considerable expertise in solar module procurement to over 40 different companies that rely on his advice and customer service. Steven is the bestselling author of The Law Dictionary which has sold more than two million copies worldwide. Steven graduated from Harvard Law School Summa Cum Laude and began his career as a Law Professor at Rutgers Law School. Steven earned his BA in political science from UCLA with honors in 1963 and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Jeff Barnett brings more than 20 years of global leadership experience in the renewable energy industry to the Aten team. Jeff has a deep background in many key areas of solar including: product sales, project development and financing, manufacturing and technology investing.
Prior to Aten, Jeff was President of GCLSI Americas and responsible for leading the company’s module and balance of system business in North and South America. Jeff also served as Managing Director of Yingli Green Energy Americas where he was responsible for the company’s sales and operations within the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.
Jeff has also held key roles with Wirsol Solar and Exelon Corporation, one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, where he oversaw investments in solar and other renewable energy technologies. Before joining Exelon, he founded and was CEO of Blue Square Energy, a manufacturer of silicon solar cells – and has also held various positions at AstroPower, including overseeing a national team responsible for the installation of commercial and residential rooftop solar systems. Jeff began his career with Intel Corporation.
Jeff earned his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
